Dine out for the Kids October 2nd and Closed October 5th & 6th
Dine out for the kids on Friday, October 2nd. We are kicking off the South Whidbey Schools Foundation Dine Out
program and a portion of our sales from that day will go directly to
funding awesome programs in the South Whidbey School District.
We will be closed October 5th and 6th for projects, repairs, cleaning and some staff R&R. We will be laying the patio to rest during that time, so be sure to come in over this weekend as we hope to have it open all weekend (weather permitting of course). If you are hoping to sit out there, be sure to wear warm clothes...we have the heaters on and blankets, but you will be surprised by how chilly it is now.
And speaking of the patio...we are again in the running for King 5's Best of the Northwest in the best outdoor dining category...we would LOVE to get your vote. Thanks so much for the support!

TAKE OUT ORDERS
Based on our
growing volume and the restaurant running at maximum capacity almost
every day,
our current policy for take out is as follows:
Take out orders placed between 11:30-6:00 are taken on a discretionary basis - the person who answers the phone will determine if the kitchen can handle that order at that time. Any order placed after 6 PM must be made in person. We've had numerous people call in after 6 who have been upset with this policy - the reason behind it is that it allows us to get to you when we can. If everyt table is full and there is a line of people coming up the stairs, we believe those people are our priority.
Thank you for understanding.

we can guarantee you a reservation at a certain time, but not
necessarily in a certain place. We do our very best to make everyone

Spring Newsletter
Hello! We've been so amazed by this beautiful, mild winter
we're having. We are getting a jump on the projects to get our deck
ready to open...maybe it will be earlier this year than in the past!
As always, tons to tell you about.
Wines of Oregon
wine dinner, May 3rd. Here's what Sieb has to say about these wines:
"I love Oregon wines because much like the wines of France they are food
wines, delicious on their own but transformed with a good meal. In
Oregon you will not find the over extracted fruit bombs that have
dominated the American wine scene for too long. Oregon wines are subtle
and nuanced from the nose to the palate, provoking thought and
inspiring cuisine."
6 wine paired courses for $95/person. Seatings will be between 6:00 and 8:00. Email primabistro@whidbey.com for reservations

The Gray Whales have returned to Langley. Each year, approximately 20,000 Gray Whales migrate between feeding and breeding grounds in Baja and Alaska. Some come in from the Pacific Ocean into the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the Saratoga Passage and actually stay for a few months before heading North. We are extraordinarily lucky in Langley...these amazing creatures feed on the ghost shrimp right at our sea wall. They come up so close that at Prima we are unable to see them as the buildings across block our view! So when we hear the whale bell ringing we know it's time to run across the street for a look. Welcome the Whales day is April 18 - replete with a parade and seaside celebration in honor of this annual migration. Whale watching tours aboard the Mystic Sea run from the Langley marina now through the beginning of May. You are guaranteed (literally) to see a whale. The trips almost always sell out, so book now!

What's Happening...
How is it that it feels as if spring is just around the corner? As the new year begins, again we reflect on how incredibly thankful we are for all of you who have been part of this crazy restaurant journey. Thank you for continuing to support us, which is allowing us to raise our families on this beautiful island, surrounded by awesome people and amazing beauty!
Heads up...we will be closed on Superbowl Sunday. GO HAWKS!
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and this year will be particularly busy as it falls over President's Day weekend. We will fill up soon so please call soon to secure a reservation. We will run our usual menus, with some extra special specials. I've been hearing a lot of ideas from Christina, OUR NEW PASTRY CHEF!!!, about dessert special ideas. Christina has been with us a few months now, a recent grad from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, and she easily took over our dessert program as well as quickly figured out a plan for baking our sandwich breads in house...we are thrilled!
"It's No Laughing Murder". Join us for Langley's 31st Annual Mystery Weekend, February 21st and 22nd. The entire town turns into a crime scene for the weekend - shop keepers hand out clues, and colorful characters and sleuths roam the town trying to solve the mystery. This is really a fun weekend activity for groups of friends and families. Our 11 and 7 year olds did it last year with their grandparents and LOVED IT! Visit the Langley Chamber of Commerce website for more details. http://www.visitlangley.com/langleyevents/langley_mystery_weekend/
If you haven't already, we hope you'll get a chance to check out our new copper bar top, expertly crafted and installed by Tim Leonard of Heavy Metal Works. We are SO thrilled with the results and cannot recommend his work enough!!! Also, a few menu changes will happen next week and a few more throughout the next month and then a big Spring change will come in April. Rachel put out a new cocktail list last week and there are some awesome new drinks for you to check out while sitting at the new bar. You know, copper does have healing properties, so some of our favorite local ladies now say they are going to the spa when coming up for a drink!

There are two exciting art openings (maybe more?) this weekend in Langley:
"MUSEO’S much anticipated, Winter Event will open with an artists’ reception Saturday, January 24th from 5 to 7 pm.
The
theme this year will be Pop Art. Starting in the late 50’s and running
through the 60’s, Pop art employed images of popular culture in art,
emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any given culture, often
through the use of irony or images of famous people of the period. Come dressed in costume or wear threads from the 50’s/60’s. We will have performers and entertainment, libations and appetizers."
and at Brackenwood:
"Original and unique woodworking is featured
prominently in the gallery this month. One-of-a-kind musical instruments,
handcrafted furniture, and original works from gallery artists will warm your
home through every season. Please join us January 24th from 5-7 PM for the
Artists' Reception"
